Product Details

A cloth is the wrong tool for a dressing. Microfiber is designed to absorb, so much of what you spray onto it stays in the towel — and the amount reaching the surface varies with every pass, which is what leaves streaks and patchy areas.

Foam works differently. The product sits on the face of the pad and transfers onto the surface rather than disappearing into it, so you get a thin, even layer using noticeably less. The round shape has no corners to dig in or leave lines, and at 13 cm across it covers a dashboard or door card quickly while still fitting into the shallower recesses.

Spray onto the pad, never onto the surface. It keeps overspray off the glass and gives you control over exactly where the dressing goes.

How to use

Rinse under warm water immediately after use, before the product has a chance to harden in the foam. Squeeze gently rather than wringing, and leave to air dry. A pad left to dry with dressing still in it will apply unevenly next time.

Why not just use a microfiber towel?

A towel absorbs, so a lot of the product ends up in the cloth rather than on the surface, and coverage varies as the towel gets wetter in places. Foam holds the dressing at the face of the pad, which gives an even layer and uses less product.

Should I spray onto the pad or the surface?

Onto the pad, always. It keeps overspray off the glass and screens, and lets you control exactly where the dressing goes.

How do I avoid streaks?

Use a thin, even layer and work in overlapping passes, then buff lightly with a clean dry towel to even it out. Streaks almost always mean too much product rather than too little.

How do I clean it?

Rinse under warm water straight after use, before the dressing hardens in the foam. Squeeze gently, don't wring, and leave to air dry.

How long does it last?

Rinsed after each use, a long time. What ruins a foam applicator is product left to cure in it — once that happens the face won't transfer evenly.

Can I use it for exterior products?

Yes — a foam pad of this type is equally suited to applying wax or polish to paintwork. Keep separate pads for interior and exterior work, though, so nothing transfers between them.
